Pretty as a Poppy

I think that the desire to collect tableware must have a genetic component, because this lovely china was passed down to me from my dear Aunt Tess...a fellow dish-aholic.

The pattern is Cornpoppy by Susie Cooper for Wedgewood.  It was produced from 1972 until 1987 and it is still looking just fabulous in 2011!

The colors of the poppies are so incredibly intense, these dishes just beg for equally vibrant accessories...

like these vintage orange woven placemats with fuchsia and aqua accents.  The Romantika water goblets (Crate & Barrel, early 90's) are also accented in pink and blue.

The fabric for these napkins was actually the inspiration for this table setting. When I saw this delicious fabric, I knew its colors would perfectly match my Cornpoppy dishes.  I made these napkins double sided...and their equally fun flip side will appear in a future posting...so stay tuned, as always.

Please follow me and my fellow table setters each week at Between Naps on the Porch.  Every Thusday, author Susan, posts all of our submissions together at one fantastic Blog Party, Tablescape Thursday.  Come and see what we ALL have been up to!
